CampusConnect ("we", "our", or "us") is a student collaboration platform designed to help students find teammates, build projects, and communicate with peers. When you use CampusConnect, we may collect the following types of information:
- Account information: Your name, email address, and profile photo provided through your Google account at sign-in.
- Profile data: Information you voluntarily provide, such as your college, branch, academic year, skills, interests, a short bio, and project descriptions.
- Usage data: Basic information about how you interact with the platform, such as which sections you visit and actions you perform (e.g. sending connection requests).
- Messages: Content of conversations you have with other users through the in-app chat feature.
- Uploaded files: Files or images you choose to share within team chats or conversations.
- Connection data: Records of connection requests you send, receive, accept, or decline.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to operate and improve CampusConnect, including to:
- Authenticate your identity and manage your account session.
- Display your profile to other users on the platform so they can find and connect with you.
- Enable connection requests, team formation, and real-time messaging between users.
- Send in-app notifications for connection requests and accepted connections.
- Improve platform features and fix bugs based on usage patterns.
- Respond to support requests, reports, or account deletion inquiries.
We do not sell your personal information to any third party. We do not use your data to serve advertisements.
3. Profile Visibility
Your profile — including your name, photo, skills, interests, and bio — is visible to all registered users of CampusConnect. This is intentional: the platform is designed for students to discover and connect with each other.
Please be mindful of the information you add to your public profile. We strongly recommend that you avoid including sensitive personal details such as phone numbers, home addresses, financial information, or government identification.
4. User Content
Content you create on CampusConnect — including profile text, messages, and uploaded files — is stored in our systems to provide the service. You retain ownership of your original content. By submitting content to the platform, you grant us a limited licence to store and display it to provide the features described in this policy.
Uploaded files shared in team or direct chats are accessible to the participants of that conversation. Please do not share confidential, sensitive, or copyrighted material through the platform.
5. Communications
CampusConnect provides real-time messaging between connected users. Message content is stored to ensure continuity across sessions. We do not read your private messages except when required to investigate reported violations of our platform guidelines.
6. Authentication & Login
CampusConnect uses third-party authentication to manage sign-in. When you log in with Google, we receive basic account information (name, email, and profile photo) from that provider. We do not store or have access to your Google password. Certain features of the platform require a logged-in account and are not available to anonymous visitors.
7. Future Features
CampusConnect is an evolving platform. Future features may include enhanced team collaboration tools, public project showcases, skill-based discovery, event listings, and additional communication options. If such features involve new data practices, this Privacy Policy will be updated accordingly and users will be notified.
We may also explore content moderation tools in the future to help keep the platform safe, which could involve review of flagged content by our team.
8. Users Under 18
CampusConnect is intended for students of all ages, including those under 18. We do not knowingly collect data beyond what is necessary to operate the service. If you are under 18, we encourage you to be cautious about the information you share publicly on your profile and in conversations.

9. Data Retention & Deletion
We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. You may request the deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us at campusconnect.quest@gmail.com. We will process deletion requests within a reasonable timeframe. Please note that some data may be retained in backups for a limited period before permanent removal.
10. Third-Party Links
CampusConnect may contain links to external websites or resources. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those third-party sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any external site you visit.
11. Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your data. However, no internet-based platform can guarantee absolute security. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password for your Google account and to sign out of CampusConnect when using shared devices.
12. Policy Updates
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal reasons. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of CampusConnect after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
